"I go to Nature to be soothed and healed,
and to have my senses put in tune once more"

When I visit my family on Ohio, much of my time is spent in nature...  Many of my photographs are taken at Oak Openings Preserve, a wildlife sanctuary in Northwest Ohio. It is home to many rare species and has a variety of distinct environmental zones, including one of the few remaining Oak Savannahs in the world.  Hiking here is one of the things I most love to do.  Over time, I have discovered the meadow where the deer graze in the morning, the spots where the woodpeckers nest and the trees where the young Cooper's hawks perch.

Wild Blue Lupine was abundant
this year on the savannah. I was
enchanted  by the rich palette of
colors  and the rhythmic patterns
of these beautiful, rare native plants.

Black Swamp Raptor Rehab cares for many injured
birds of prey.  This is Bart, the Barred Owl
and an American Kestrel...

There is always great bird watching
at our home feeders, too!

We get colorful visitors like this red-bellied
woodpecker and yellow-bellied sapsucker.
