Life in Thailand - photos of Chaing Mai


*Life in Thailand...* This is a collage of all kinds of things: smiling children, Spirit Houses, architecture, Buddhist monks, temples, photos from the markets and whatever else strikes my fancy. As we walk around town, I try to capture the things we see every day as well as the delightful surprises we stumble upon. The rule here is: always take your camera! You never know what you'll find.






















		I never get tired of visiting the temples. The architecture, ceremonies, Buddhist symbolism and flower offerings are so beautiful. The monks are shy and kind, and they often enjoy practicing their English with visitors.






Spirit Houses and Ancestor Houses are something I look for all over town. Every home or building has one and they are each a little work of art. Decorated beautifully, offerings of food, flowers and incense are made each day. These shrines honor the Spirits of the Land, the Nature Spirits and the people who original owned or built on the land, called the "Grandmother and Grandfather" spirits. Some Spirit Houses are incredibly simple, others quite elaborate.







		The spirits here like whiskey!

This image is of dancers at a local festival - I love the synchronicity of the feet and the intricate textiles that grace the bottom edge of their skirts.
